Passion for spreading awareness about the benefits of balanced, plant-based living.
How It All Began: Go Macro’s Brand History
Go Macro was started by a mother-daughter duo, Amelia and Jola, in Viola, Wisconsin. The mother, Amelia, received a cancer diagnosis in 2003, and along with a lumpectomy, she also adopted a plant-based macrobiotic diet. It was during this time that they got creative with different all-natural snack recipes and created the Macrobar.
A year later, they founded Go Macro and started selling the Macrobar at local food co-ops in Viola, Wisconsin, and over the years they have grown into a nationwide company.
Today, Jola runs the business side of Go Macro, and Amelia tends to the farm or works with the innovations team to develop new recipes.
Beyond creating healthy, organic snack bars, Go Macro works hard to operate sustainably. Their facility is powered by 100% renewable energy, all the ingredients they use are sustainably sourced, and all of their products are plant-based which also has a positive impact on the environment. Their packaging is also 100% recyclable or compostable and they are also carbon neutral and working diligently to become a zero-waste, landfill-free facility.
